Fourth National Operation to Destroy Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances
In accordance with the laws relating to the incineration and destruction of various types of drugs, and following the example of previous operations, the fourth national operation to destroy narcotics and psychotropic substances was organized today, Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Oued Sly cement factory in Chlef, in the 1st Military Region, in the presence of local and regional civil and security authorities. The operation coincided with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. During this operation, all drugs seized by units of People's National Army, the National Gendarmerie, the National Security Service, and Algerian Customs throughout the country were collected.
The operation of destruction and incineration of seized drugs, including processed kif, Indian hemp, hard drugs, psychotropic substances and others, with a total value of 2938 billion centimes, took place under rigorous organizational conditions, with the implementation of all the material and human resources necessary for its success. This operation was overseen by the National Committee for the Destruction of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, chaired by the competent regional representative of the judicial authority:
It should be noted that yesterday, all seized quantities were transported from across the country and collected at the 15th Intervention Group of the National Gendarmerie in Chlef, where all seizures were weighed and inventoried by the judicial police services represented by the judicial authorities, the National Gendarmerie, and the National Security Service. They were then transported and escorted to the cement plant in the Oued Sly industrial zone, where the seals were opened and the seizures inventoried. The process of destroying these drugs began in accordance with legal techniques and standards, while respecting safety conditions and taking into account environmental protection.
It should be noted that this fourth national operation to destroy drugs and psychotropic substances, which saw the quantities seized double compared to the previous operation, implemented only 6 months ago, demonstrates the effectiveness of the national strategy to combat this phenomenon and the considerable efforts deployed by the units of People's National Army and the various security services to confront this dangerous scourge which threatens our society, our national security and our economy, and to thwart all attempts to flood our country with these toxic substances.
