General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of the PNA Staff, presides over the opening of an international seminar entitled "Geopolitics of Terrorism in the Shadow of New Global Changes."
As part of the consolidation of the Algerian approach to combating terrorism, the Ministry of National Defence is organizing, on 7th and 8th May, 2025, at the National Army Circle in Béni-Messous, an international seminar on the phenomenon of terrorism, which still affects many countries around the world, entitled "Geopolitics of Terrorism in the Shadow of New Global Changes".
General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of PNA Staff chaired the opening of the work of this international seminar, in the presence of advisors to the President of the Republic, members of the government, the Director General of the National Institute for Global Strategy Studies, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Force Commanders, Acting Commanders of the National Gendarmerie and the Republican Guard, the Commander of the 1st Military Region, the Comptroller General of the Army, Chiefs of Departments, Directors and Chiefs of Central Services of the Ministry of National Defence and the PNA General Staff, as well as Algerian and foreign professors and experts.
After welcoming the guests, the General delivered an opening address, in which he emphasized that Algeria was among the first countries to sense the danger of terrorism and that it was thanks to the people's support for state institutions that it succeeded in eradicating it and thwarting its vile designs.
"It is important to recall that Algeria was aware very early on of the seriousness of the phenomenon of barbaric terrorism and obscurantist extremism, which threatened the foundations of the nation and its republican regime. It was best placed to understand this foreign scourge, having suffered so much from its horrors, and it is thanks to the cohesion of the people and the unwavering support they showed to their institutions, led by People's National Army, that it succeeded in thwarting the vile designs hatched against the state, the unity of society, and its authentic identity.
For this reason, Algeria accepts no exaggeration in its fight against terrorism, within the framework of the laws of the Republic, for it suffered its horrors before anyone else, and declared war on it at a time when doubt, hesitation, and complicity reigned in the political and media spheres, as well as in regional and international forums.
Thanks to its people, its army, and its institutions, Algeria triumphed over terrorism and developed a unique experience in combating and preventing this scourge, both operationally and in adopting an inclusive and multidimensional approach that today represents a model for states and societies working to protect themselves against this cross-border and transnational threat".
At the end, the General announced the official opening of the seminar, wishing the participants every success.
During the scheduled conferences, the participating professors and experts focused their interventions on the analysis of the geopolitical map of terrorism, the definition of the contours of the terrorist threat in the future, as well as the foundations, rules and mechanisms of the Algerian approach to the fight and prevention against this scourge. This was followed by debates and workshops during which the speakers presented ideas and concepts that contributed to enriching the work of the seminar and to the development of recommendations capable of contributing to the fight against all forms of terrorism and extremism.
