The President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence presided over a medal presentation ceremony at People's Palace

      The President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, presided over a medal presentation ceremony at People's Palace on Saturday, 1st November 2025, to a number of Brigadier General Officers and Major Generals, this ceremony was part of the commemorative celebrations of the 71st anniversary of 1st November 1954 glorious revolution outbreak.

  

  

  


      At the beginning of the ceremony, the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, in the presence of the General, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, and other high-ranking state officials, supervised the medal presentation ceremony of military personnel, following the approval by both Parliament chambers of two (2) laws establishing nineteen (19) new medals of People's National Army (PNA).

      During this ceremony, the medals for "Operational Command," "fight against Terrorism and Organized Crime," and "Scientific Distinction" were awarded to the General, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, as well as to high-ranking officers of PNA.

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

      On this occasion, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of PNA, delivered a speech in which he first expressed his sincere thanks to the President of the Republic for having presided over this ceremony, emphasizing that the creation of these medals aims to establish a national military merit system that values sacrifice and competence:


      “On this exceptional national day, imbued with fidelity to the principles, values, and symbolism of the November Glorious Revolution, I have the honour to express to you, Mr. President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, on my own behalf and on behalf of all personnel of People’s National Army (PNA), our most sincere thanks and gratitude for having presided over the medal presentation ceremony for officers and personnel of People’s National Army, following the creation of nineteen (19) new medals within People’s National Army.

      The creation of these medals is in accordance with the instructions of your High Authority, aiming to carry on efforts to consolidate the material, organizational, and human resources of PNA, particularly with regard to personnel motivation and improving the performance of the human factor, which constitutes the cornerstone of any development project. The objective is to ensure that our valiant army remains the nation's fortress, guardian of the Republic's values and the achievements of our courageous people.

      Through the creation of these medals, we are also committed to establishing a national military merit system that recognizes sacrifice and competence and reflects missions’ complexity, the increasing and expanding risks in the current international context, and the growing interdependence between the military profession and technological advancements, driven by new revolutions in military affairs”.


      The General also emphasized that the creation of the Medal for the Fight against Terrorism and Organized Crime aims to reward military personnel for the great sacrifices made in the defence of the country and its citizens:

      “These new medals include two (2) ranks of People’s National Army (PNA) Medal, without chevrons, for the benefit of civilian and military personnel; an “Operational Command Medal” comprising 13 ranks; a “Partnership with the PNA Medal”; a “Medal for Scientific Distinction”; a “Medal for Innovation”; and a “Medal for the Fight Against Terrorism and Organized Crime.”

      The creation of the Medal for the Fight against Terrorism and Organized Crime aims to reward military personnel who have made immense and proven sacrifices in the defence of the country and its citizens, and who have distinguished themselves through exemplary bravery in neutralizing terrorists and criminals. This undoubtedly provides strong motivation for our staff to redouble their efforts to eliminate terrorist remnants and rigorously combat organized crime and subversion activities.”
