Mr. President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, supervises the ceremony of the 53rd edition of the Algerian Military Football Cup Final
Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, supervised this Wednesday, 29th October 2025, the ceremony of the final of the Algerian Military Football Cup, in its 53rd edition, at the Centre for Regrouping and Preparation of Military Sports Teams in Ben Aknoun, 1st Military Region, where he was received by General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army.
Following the welcoming ceremony, the President of the Republic listened to the national anthem and received honours from the various formations of the People’s National Army, before returning the salute to the welcoming delegation, namely the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, the Commander of the Republican Guard, the Commanders of the Forces, the Director of Cabinet at the Ministry of National Defence, the Acting Commander of the National Gendarmerie, the Commander of the 1st Military Region, the Head of the Employment-Preparation Department of the General Staff of the People’s National Army and the Head of the Military Sports Service.
Thereafter, the President of the Republic proceeded to the official stand of the stadium at the centre, where he gave the kick-off for the final which brought together the teams of the Republican Guard Command and the Directorate of Administration and Common Services/Ministry of National Defence, in the presence of members of the Government, Advisors to the Presidency of the Republic, and Directors and Heads of Central Services of the Ministry of National Defence and the General Staff of the People’s National Army.
The first half of this match saw both teams evenly matched, each taking control of play in turn, without converting the opportunities into goals, before the referee signalled the end of the half with a score of 0-0.
In the second half the tempo of the match increased noticeably, and was marked by the determination of both formations to win. Multiple offensive actions were launched on both sides, without however managing to open the scoring. The match ended thus with a goalless draw, compelling the two teams to a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner. The shoot-out concluded with the Republican Guard team victorious by 5 penalties to 3, thereby claiming the Algerian Military Football Cup.
At the conclusion of the match, the President of the Republic presented medals to the players of both teams and handed the Cup to the Republican Guard team.
On the side-lines of this final, the President of the Republic honoured a group of military athletes and sports teams who distinguished themselves during this season in various disciplines nationally and internationally with very positive results reflecting the great capabilities and high professional standard attained by the military sports teams. After the ceremony, the President of the Republic took a commemorative photograph with the honoured athletes before signing the Golden Book of the Centre for Regrouping and Preparation of Military Sports Teams.
