Within the framework of the Algerian-American bilateral military cooperation program, the American Destroyer "USS ROOSEVELT (DDG-80)" docked today, Sunday, 12th October 2025, at Algiers Port, for a visit that will last until 16th October 2025.
During this stopover, and at the Algiers Naval Base headquarters in the 1st Military Region, the Chief of the Mission, along with the accompanying delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the Brigadier General, Commander of the Central Maritime Front in the 1st Military Region, where the two parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise between the Algerian and American navies.
Within this framework, cultural and sporting activities will be organized for the benefit of the American ship crew, as well as reciprocal visits between officers of the Algerian Naval Forces and the crew of the American destroyer.
In the same context, a joint maritime exercise, "PASSEX," will be conducted on the high seas, with the participation of the multi-mission frigate "ERRADII" of the Algerian Naval Forces and the American destroyer "USS ROOSEVELT (DDG-80)." This exercise aims to strengthen joint cooperation between the naval units of the two countries and to exchange experiences in the areas of manoeuvres, operational coordination, maritime communications, and security operations at sea.
