Missions and organization

1. Missions of the Territory Air Defence Forces Command:

Within the framework of the People's National Army constitutional missions, the Territory Air Defence Forces Command (TADFC) is charged with :

  • Organizing and conducting the defence of national airspace;
  • Enforcing in anytime the national sovereignty through the sky policing ;
  • Participating in coordination with the concerned national agencies in the regulation and the organization of the general air traffic;
  • Ensuring, as missions of public interest and in coordination with the concerned national authorities, the organization and the working of the search and rescue of aircrafts in distress (SAR) within the Flight Information Region (FIR) of Algiers. .


2. Organization of the Territory Air Defence Forces Command:

The Territory Air Defence Forces Command is organized as following:

  • A Central Command composed of a staff, an inspection service, arm divisions, departments of support and offices and specialized services;
  • Regional commands located in the military regions;
  • A Battle corps, constituted by the detection and control units as well as the ground to air defense units;
  • Training institutions ;
  • Multiform support institutions ;


3. Training:

The assigned mission to the Territory Air Defence Forces requires the availability of well trained human resources to operate the more and more complex equipments, for that purpose, the Territory Air Defence Forces Command has set up the necessary bodies to the following training.

The Territory Air Defence Superior School (TADSS/1st MR), which is specialized to prepare the Air Defence officers through trainings:

    - Higher School of Territorial Air Defence "Ali CHABATI", implantée à Réghaia, en 1ère Région Militaire, avec pour mission la préparation d'Officiers de Défense Aérienne à travers des formations:
    • Engineers;
    • The Course of Staff;
    • The Improving course;
    • Practice (for the benefit to the engineer officers from the Polytechnical Military School).

    - The Territory Air Defence Cadet School "Ahmed FERRACH" (TADCS/ 1st MR), its missions is the training of the contingent officers, the traffic and the contingent students NCOs (Non Commissioned Officers).

    - The Territory Air Defence Training Center "Abdelouahab DJEFFAL" (TADTC), its mission is the training of the traffic and of the contingent men of rank.

4. Development:

On development, the effort axes of the Territory Air Defence Forces Command are basically oriented to equipment upgrades and improvement of their performance and that, depending to arms specific needs. These needs are dictated by technological developments of the arms systems and by operational imperatives that allow the Territory Air Defence Forces to deal, effectively and permanently and continuously at all air hostility that could threaten the integrity of national territory.
