Development stages of the Military Academy of Cherchell


This Training Institution Has Undergone Different Stages:

First Stage (1963-1969): during This period, it was named «the military school of various arms» and was entrusted the following tasks:

  • The preparation of the descendants of the national army of liberation.
  • The rehabilitation of the non-commissioned officers.
  • The training of the first nation's cadets class.
  • The training of the national service officers since 1969.

 


   

Second stage (1969-1979): Owing to the political and military developments that marked the beginning of the 70s, the high command decided to reorganize the military school of various arms as follows:

  • The training of the serving officers for combat arms.
  • Embracing a special training course for recruits with university degrees.
  • Embracing the leadership and staff course as well as the officers.

   

  

Third stage (1979-1991): In 1979, the high command decided to reorganize the period of training and named this institution as the Military Academy of various Arms. Starting from 1980 it has launched:

  • High arms courses in senior officers.
  • Mastery courses in favour of the Orientation Information and Communication Departments officers.

Fourth stage(1991-2007): The academy was attached to the Land Forces Command in 1991. During this phase; the formation was arabized at all levels.

Fifth stage(from 2007 until now): The high command decided to implement a military and academic formation in favour of the cadets holders of the baccalaureate exam. In 2016, it had decided to name the academy as «the Military Academy of Cherchell defunct president Houari Boumediene».
