The National Gendarmerie: Assisting citizens and road users during adverse weather conditions
Amid a heavy snowfall wave which strucked several Wilayas, the National Gendarmerie units intensified their interventions to ensure the safety of citizens and assist them in facing these harsh weather conditions. The affected Wilayas include Tizi Ouzou, Béjaïa, Bouira, Jijel, Khenchela, and Sétif, where heavy snowfalls led to the closure of numerous roads and the isolation of some villages and mountainous areas.
![]() ![]() The efforts of the National Gendarmerie units focused on reopening main and secondary roads, such as National Road No. 15 in the wilaya of Bouira and National Road No. 9 connecting Béjaïa and Sétif. Additionally, dozens of citizens trapped in their vehicles by snow in rugged mountainous areas were rescued. ![]() ![]() The National Gendarmerie units ensured close coordination with local authorities and relevant agencies to guarantee the efficiency and speed of interventions. Crisis cells were activated at the level of the affected wilayas to set priorities and handle emergency incidents.
