In execution of the annual program of national and international military sports activities for the year 2023/2024, approved by Mister the General Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, the Republican Guard Command hosted the activities of the Basketball Champion Tournament, which took place at the level of the Headquarters of the Republican Guard Command, during the period from May 05^th, to May 09^th, 2024, with the participation of the Republican Guard Command team and the National Gendarmerie Command team, as well as six (06) other teams representing the six (06) Military Region Commands.

The opening and closing ceremonies were presided over by the Major-General, Inspector of the Republican Guard, who emphasized in his speech that military sport is one of the pillars of training and an indispensable means for the physical and moral preparation for combatants, urging all participants to show sportsmanship and discipline, to make more efforts to improve their performance and to put forward new skills that can contribute to achievement of better results for military sport.

  

This tournament has seen a strong completion was between the participating teams, the 01^st place was won by the team of the National Gendarmerie Command, which was crowned with the tournament cup, while the team of the Second Military Region obtained the 02^nd place and the 03^rd place went to the team of the Republican Guard Command.

  

At the end, and under the aegis of Mister Major-General, Inspector of the Republican Guard Command, medals were awarded to the laureates and distinction of the guests, and this in a ceremony marked by a good atmosphere.
