On behalf of Mister The President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Mister The General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, presided over, on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, the installation ceremony of The Major General Tahar AYAD, in the functions of the Commander of the Republican Guard by Interim, replacing The General Ben Ali BEN ALI. ![]() After the welcoming ceremony, Mister the General observed, at the entrance to the headquarters of the Command of the Republican Guard, a moment of silence in memory of the hero chahid "Mohamed BELOUIZDAD" whose headquarters of the Command is named after him. The General then laid a wreath of flowers in front of the commemorative stele of the chahid and recited the Fatiha in his memory and that of the valiant chouhada. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then, the General proceeded to inspect the squares of the executives and personnel of the Command of the Republican Guard, aligned at the level of the parade ground, before announcing the official installation of the new Commander of the Republican Guard, Major General Tahar AYAD: « In the name of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, and in accordance with the presidential decree of 6th January 2025, I officially install Major General Tahar AYAD in the functions of Commander of the Republican Guard by interim, replacing General Ben Ali BEN ALI.As such, I order you to work under his authority, follow his orders and carry out his instructions, in the interest of the service, in application of military regulations and the laws of the Republic, and by showing loyalty to the sacrifices of our valiant Chouhada and the values of our Glorious Revolution ». ![]() ![]() ![]() After that, the General presided over the handing over of the national flag. After signing the minutes of the transfer of power, the General met with the executives and the personnel of the Republican Guard, and delivered an orientation speech, broadcast by videoconference to all the units of the Republican Guard, through which he congratulated Major General Tahar AYAD for having been appointed Interim Commander of the Republican Guard, saluting at the same time the remarkable career of General Ben Ali BEN ALI, before recalling the major interest that the High Command grants to the Republican Guard Arm by ensuring the development of its capacities and making it an elite Arm par excellence: ![]() «You all know the major interest that we grant to the Republican Guard under the leadership, the orientations and the support of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, and which is reflected in the desire to bring together all the human and material factors capable of developing the capacities of this Weapon, so that it can be in synergy with the sensitivity of the missions assigned to it and in accordance with our aspiration to make it an elite Weapon par excellence. To this end, we have always worked to guarantee effective and qualitative management of the human resource that we consider to be an essential pillar for any successful evolution and development effort ». ![]() ![]() The General urged the personnel of the Republican Guard to exercise caution and vigilance and to intensify the effort of combat preparation in accordance with the plans established in order to face all threats in our regional space and threats induced by the geopolitical changes prevailing in the world :
