In execution of the annual program of national and international military sports activities for the year 2022/2023, approved by Mister the General, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army, the Republican Guard Command hosted the basketball champion tournament, which took place at the level of the Headquarters Group of the Republican Guard Command during the period from 07 to 11 May 2023, with the participation of the Republican Guard Command team and that of the National Gendarmerie Command, as well as six (06) other teams representing the six (06) Military Regions Commands.

The opening of this sporting event was chaired by Mister General- Major, Inspector of the Republican Guard, who emphasized in his speech that military sport is one of the pillars of training and an indispensable means for the physical and moral preparation of combatants, urging all participants to show sportsmanship and discipline, to make more efforts to improve their performance and to put forward new skills that can contribute to the achievement of better results for military sport.

  

  

This tournament has seen a strong completion between the participating teams, the 1^st place was won by the team of the National Gendarmerie Command, which was crowned with the tournament cup, while the team of the Republican Guard Command obtained the 2^nd place and the 3^rd place went to the team of the 1^st Military Region.

The organization of this kind of sports events reflects the great interest of the High Command of the National Popular Army in the various activities, and its commitment to the training of professional athletes in all disciplines, able to honor the People’s National Army during the various national and international competitions.

At the end, and under the aegis of Mister General-Major, Inspector of the Republican Guard, medals were awarded to the laureates and the distinction of the guests, and this, in a ceremony marked by a good atmosphere.
