Convention ratification between the Public Entreprise of an Industrial and Commercial Caracter-Principal Naval Workshop/2ndMR and common profit group of port institutions of building seven (07) Tug Boats for national port institutions
Within the dynamic of revitalizing the national economy, and taking part in developing and promoting the national product, a convention was ratified in October 15th, 2025 at the headquarters of the Public Institution of an Industrial and Commercial Caracter-Principal Naval Workshop Mers El Kebir, a convention of realizing seven (07) naval Tug Boats with 70 tonnes towing capacity, for the port institutions such as Oran, Arzew, Skikda an Annaba relevant to the common profit group of port institutions.
This operation falls within the framework of embodying the directives of the General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Delegate Minister to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of People’s National Army Staff aiming to integrating the military industries within the national industrial textiles as an embodiment of Mr. The President of the Republic, Higher Commander of Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense policy aiming to making the military industry as an engine for the national development.
These Tug Boats were purely locally designed and made and realized by the Public Institution of an Industrial and Commercial Caracter-Principal Naval Workshop Mers El Kébir relevant to the economic sector of the People’s National Army with a long experience in the field of naval construction and reform, wether for military or civil public and private sector.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. The General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Delegate Minister of the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army supervised the inauguration ceremony of the Tug Boat « El Bassel », the first model of these Tug Boats made in this enterprise, and he put it into service within the Naval Forces fleet.
Throughout this partnership, the People’s National Army confirms its firm commitment in continuing the industrial development and opening to the national economy, as a support to the state’s efforts aiming to build a powerful, diversified and sustainable developement that enhances the national sovereignty.
