Major General Mahfoud BENMEDDAH was born on November 3^rd, 1955 in Hadjout, wilaya of Tipaza.

   He was incorporated in Naval Forces in 1974.

  He obtained military diplomas, State Engineer in Electro mechanics / Baku ex USSR 1974-1979, Command and Staff courses and armament / Russia 1991, Higher Armament courses / war High studies /Russia 1999.

   Major General Mahfoud BENMEDDAH assumed the responsibility of the following functions:

• Commander of the missile-launching vessel 1982 - 1986 ;
• Chief of Tactical Chair of naval formation 1994 - 1996 ;
• Director of Naval staff courses / Naval High School 2002 – 2003 ;
• Director of studies / Naval High School 2003 – 2005 ;
• Commander of Naval High School 2005 – 2007 ;
• Commander of the West Maritime Façade 2007 – 2015 ;
• Chief of Staff of Naval Forces 2015 – 2021 ;
• Interim Commander of Naval Forces from January 07^th, 2021;
• Commander of Naval Forces from September 06^th, 2021.

   Major General Mahfoud BENMEDDAH has been decorated with the medal of PNA 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd chevron, the Medal of Military Merit and the Medal of Honor.

    He is married and father of three (03) children.
