1973: launching of the training of the first hydrographs;
1977: creation of a hydrographic building block inside the cartography and remote sensing national institute (INCT).its missions were limited to the cartography and the diffusion of nautical information.
1980: Acquisition of the hydrographic ship “El Idrissi” and the execution since 1981 of the first hydrographic campaigns.
1982:
Creation of hydrographic section related to the national marine, with a status that relates it directly to the commander of naval forces, and even promoted it into an institution of services and works, decentralized and non-commercial, in charge of the realization of services and works in term of hydrography and oceanography that are necessary to national activities.
Creation of regional levels called “regional hydrographic services SHR) in charge of hydro meteorological and navigation support in the maritime facades.
1996: adhesion of Algeria to the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
