Mr. the Major-General Naval Forces Commander inspects the Multi Task Corvette « El Fatih » n° 921
Mr. the Major-General Mahfoud BENMEDDAH Naval Forces Commander supervised on Monday, November 18th, 2024 the inspection of the Multi Task Corvette “El Fatih” n° 921 at the North Quay of the Admiralty Algiers’ Naval Base/1stMR, after its participation in executing the nineteenth (19th) edition of the multinational exercise “PHOENIX EXPRESS-2024” which occurred during the period of November 03rd to 16th, 2024 in Tunisia which witnessed the participation of (12) countries.
Activities of this exercise revolved around the reinforcement of the operational coordination and joint cooperation between the participant states in the field of maritime security, particularly the fight against the illicit activities such as piracy, trafficking and illegal immigration in addition to the expertise exchange in the field of rescue and maritime security in order to improve navigation security at the Mediterranean sea notably in the southern region.
The Muti Task Corvette “El Fatih” took part in the naval manoeuvres, which included trainings on naval inspection, rescue operations and information exchange via multinational naval operations centers.
This participation embodies the Algerian Naval Forces engagement in contributing to the international efforts in consolidating security and stability in the Mediterranean Sea, and translates the strategy of operational capacities development and the Naval Forces readiness in accordance with the regional and international challenges.
