Lieutenant General, Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army carried out, this Tuesday, April 19,2022, a working and inspection visit to the Naval Forces’ Command Chahid « SOUIDANI Boudjemaa ».

This visit reflects the permanent interest granted by the People's National Army’s High Command to direct contact with the personnel, by listening to their concerns related to living and working conditions, especially in this holy month of Ramadhan.

After his welcoming by Major General Mahfoud BENMEDAH, Naval Forces’ Commander, the Lieutenant General observed a moment of contemplation in memory of Chahid « SOUIDANI Boudjemaa ». He laid a wreath of flowers in front of his commemorative stele, before reciting the Fatiha on his pure soul and on those of our brave Chouhada.

Then, the Lieutenant General held a meeting with the executives and personnel of the Naval Forces’ Command, where he delivered an orientation speech that was followed by videoconferencing, by all the Naval Forces units. On this occasion, the Lieutenant General emphasized the particular interest granted by the People's National Army’s High Command to our Naval Forces, in view of their importance as an essential component in the modern dispute resolution process :

"Recent wars, that have shaken the world, have highlighted the importance of naval force as an essential component in the process of resolving modern conflicts, given the particular characteristics of this force, such as flexibility, autonomy and great manoeuvrability in the high seas, making it a strategic and vital weapon.

With this in mind and insofar as our country has coastlines that extend over more than 1200 kilometres, the People's National Army’s High Command granted, in accordance with the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, a particular interest in our Naval Forces”.

The Lieutenant General also emphasized on the fact that this interest is particularly reflected in the concern to constantly enhance the operational and combat capabilities of our Naval Forces and to make of them a real deterrent force :

"This interest, which is reflected in particular by the concern to constantly increase the operational and combat capabilities of our Naval Forces, insofar as these constitute an essential element of our defence system and a crucial factor in the defence of our territorial waters against all forms of threats and dangers, such as illegal immigration and smuggling, but also in the protection of our fisheries resources.

This particular attention also aims at restoring consideration to the Algerian navy which was, during many past centuries, at the height of its glory. It was an undisputed master of the seas and a formidable force in the Mediterranean basin.

This glorious past can only be a source of pride and determination to lift the People's National Army’s Naval Forces to the right track and make it a real deterrent, up to the reputation of revolutionary Algeria, and whose operational and combat capabilities are in tune with the various issues, challenges and accelerated changes in today's world".

By the end of this meeting, the Lieutenant General listened to the interventions and proposals of the executives and personnel of the Naval Forces’ Command, before giving orientations and instructions related, in short, to the imperative preservation and rational use of the provided materials, as well as the protection of our country against all threats such as illegal immigration, narcotraffic and looting of our fisheries resources.
