School history
The Naval Higher School “El Moudjahid Major-General Mohamed BOUTIGHANE”/1stMR, contraction to NHS, it is a training institution of a military, naval scientific moral and professional character. The school is the fruit of several years of training development in the Naval Forces and focuses on discipline, devotion, duty and the spirit of sacrifice and thanks to the courses it gives, enabled the trainees to be scientifically and technically cultivated men growing up to love the country, honour, discipline and therefore ready to do the job of weapon. Indeed, the Naval Higher School has gone through several stages that characterized the glorious memory of its history. The Naval Higher School used to be a training centre of the French Navy when first created until 1966 then transformed into a National Naval School until 1983 where the training of the first promotion was for Officers students then was transformed into a Naval Forces Higher School “Khir Eddine Baba Aroudj” which was inaugurated by the late president Chadli Ben Jdid in July 4th, 1984 on the occasion of commemorating the twenty sixth anniversary of independence day. In October 1994, this school was renamed Schools Group Tamenfoust then the Naval Higher School in Tamenfoust in 2003 after that it was named the Naval Higher School from February 2nd, 2014.
