On the occasion of the national day of the People's National Army, celebrated on August 4^th , 2025, official ceremonies were held to name several units of the National Gendarmerie after martyrs and freedom fighters who etched their names in the golden pages of Algeria’s liberation revolution. These acts serve as a tribute to their noble sacrifices and as a means to instill the values of national memory in the minds of younger generations. The ceremonies were conducted under the supervision of the commanders of the 1^st, 2^nd, and 5^th military regions, in the presence of the respective regional commanders of the National Gendarmerie and the families of those being honored.
    In the 1st military region, the 45th Intervention Group of the National Gendarmerie in Sidi Ghiles was named after freedom fighter Laâlaoui Mohamed; the 14th Intervention Group in Zéralda was named after martyr Kettam Slimane; and the Territorial Road Security Squadron in Zéralda was named after martyr Laâb Tayeb. These namings honor their revolutionary journeys and sacrifices for Algeria.      In the 2nd military region, the Territorial Company of the National Gendarmerie in Aïn Témouchent was named after martyr Nachi Djilali, one of the heroes of the liberation revolution. The ceremony concluded with the honoring of the martyr’s family in an atmosphere filled with respect and pride.      In the 5th military region, the city of Constantine hosted the naming ceremony of the Regional Logistics Establishment of the National Gendarmerie after the heroic martyr Rahal Youssef. Members of his family attended and were honored in recognition of his sacrifices.
     The naming ceremonies concluded with tributes to the families of the martyrs and freedom fighters. The occasion was marked by emotional moments during which attendees especially the honored families expressed their pride and appreciation for this noble gesture, which reflects a deep commitment to Algeria’s history and its national heroes. This official recognition of those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland's freedom highlights the profound national gratitude and reinforces the values of sacrifice and loyalty deeply rooted in the collective memory of the nation.
