The National Gendarmerie organizes a forum entitled: “Environmental Security in Algeria – Reality and Prospects”

 
     On Wednesday, April 16th , 2025, the Brigadier General, Director of the National Institute for Forensic Evidence and Criminology of the National Gendarmerie, supervised the opening of the national forum entitled: “Environmental Security in Algeria: Reality and Prospects”, held at the institute, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life, the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as representatives from the General Directorate of National Security, the General Directorate of Customs, and the General Directorate of Forests. To expand participation and interaction, the forum's proceedings were broadcast via videoconference to the Regional Commands of the National Gendarmerie, the Higher School of the National Gendarmerie in Zeralda, and the Judicial Police School of the Gendarmerie in Isser.
 

  
    The forum aimed to assess the current state of environmental security in Algeria, focusing on its legal, technical, and social dimensions. Experts from various national institutions presented valuable scientific lectures addressing the causes of environmental degradation and its impact on national security and public health, while proposing practical mechanisms to strengthen environmental governance and ensure the sustainable use of resources. At the conclusion of the forum, participants issued a set of practical recommendations, including the need to unify comprehensive, multidimensional action plans to address environmental challenges, enhance coordination between environmental and security bodies, develop monitoring and surveillance mechanisms, intensify awareness and education programs—especially among youth—and promote scientific research in the fields of renewable energy and clean technologies. The event concluded in an atmosphere of seriousness and active engagement, with general acclaim for its role in establishing environmental security as a national priority.
