As part of efforts to strengthen national efforts in combating cybercrime, the National Gendarmerie organized, on February 18th, 2025, the National Conference on Fraud and Scams in the Virtual World, attended by representatives from various security and civil sectors, as well as cybersecurity experts.


    The conference was opened under the supervision of the Brigadier General, Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, who emphasized in his speech the importance of strengthening cooperation among different actors to address the growing digital threats. The event also featured lectures and analytical presentations on the most common forms of online fraud, such as fishing, social engineering, and malware, along with discussions on prevention strategies and countermeasures against these crimes.


    The conference saw the participation of representatives from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the General Directorate of National Security, along with high officers from the National Gendarmerie specialized in combating cybercrime. The event was also broadcast via video conferencing to the six (06) Regional Commands of the National Gendarmerie, the Higher School of the National Gendarmerie in Zeralda, and the Police Judiciary School in Yesser.


    At the closing of the conference, a set of practical recommendations was formulated to strengthen cybersecurity, focusing on preventive mechanisms, coordination between relevant authorities, and the development of digital protection measures, contributing to enhancing electronic security in Algeria.
