Installation of Brigadier General Sid Ahmed BERROUMANA as Commander of the National Gendarmerie by interim

 
     On behalf of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, and pursuant to the Presidential Decree issued on April 14th, 2025, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, presided over the handover ceremony and the installation of Brigadier General Sid Ahmed BERROUMANA as Interim Commander of the National Gendarmerie, held on Saturday, April 19th, 2025. He succeeds Major General Yahia Ali OUELHADJ.
 

  
    The ceremony began with an official reception for the General, followed by a moment of reflection and reverence at the memorial of martyr Larbi Ben M’hidi, after whom the National Gendarmerie Command headquarters is named. A wreath was laid, and the Fatiha was recited in tribute to his soul and to those of all the nation’s martyrs. The event continued with a review of the National Gendarmerie formations at the parade ground. Afterwards, the General officially announced the installation of Brigadier General Sid Ahmed BERROUMANA, handed him the national flag, and signed the handover protocol.
 

  
    Following the ceremony, the General held a meeting with the leadership and officers of the National Gendarmerie, during which he delivered a keynote address broadcast via videoconference to the Gendarmerie Regional Commands and Units. In his speech, he emphasized the important role played by the Gendarmerie within the People’s National Army and highlighted its vital contribution. He also stressed the need to strengthen coordination with various state institutions, especially the judiciary, to uphold the rule of law. Finally, he called upon the officers of the National Gendarmerie to intensify efforts to strengthen ties with citizens, thus embodying the concept of “Army – Nation” and fostering trust, harmony, and stability across the entire national territory.
