The National Gendarmerie Organizes a Workshop on Geospatial Technologies

 
     As part of the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the National Gendarmerie Command and the Algerian Space Agency, the National Gendarmerie hosted, on Monday, April 21st, 2025, a technical workshop titled: “Geospatial Technologies, a Sectoral Cooperation Axis for Strengthening Public Security.” The workshop was officially opened by Brigadier General, Inspector General of the National Gendarmerie, in the presence of the Director General of the Algerian Space Agency, along with representatives from relevant national ministries and institutions, including: the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, the Ministry of Water Resources and Water Security, the General Directorate of National Security, the General Directorate of Civil Protection, the General Directorate of Customs, the General Directorate of Forests, the National Agency for Dams and Transfers, and the Algerian Highway Company, the Algerian Agency for Geological Services in addition to representatives of specialized military bodies.
 

  
    This workshop provided a valuable opportunity to review the outcomes of joint projects carried out under the framework of this cooperation. It reflected an integrated approach aiming to leverage advanced geospatial solutions in support of public security. The technical sessions highlighted practical applications of these technologies in key fields such as road safety, forest fire management, groundwater mapping, and the prevention of flood risks resulting from dam failures. The results showcased the vital role of these tools in enhancing forecasting capabilities, rapid intervention, and smart risk management.
 

  
    The workshop was led by officers from the National Gendarmerie Command, in coordination with experts from the Algerian Space Agency. This multi-sectoral meeting served as a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and experiences, reinforcing bilateral cooperation, and formulating practical recommendations aimed at enhancing institutional synergy and promoting a modern security culture grounded in technology and cross-sector coordination.
