As part of the preparations for the 2025 summer season, a joint press conference was held on May 26
th at the headquarters of the National Gendarmerie which brought together representatives from the National Gendarmerie, the National Security, Civil Protection, and the General Directorate of Forests. It provided an opportunity to present the preventive measures and operational plans aimed at ensuring a safe environment for citizens across various recreational areas.
During the conference, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdelkader BEZZIOU, Head of the Information and Communication Service of the National Gendarmerie, outlined the main points of the security plan designed for this period. The plan aims to strengthen the field presence of Gendarmerie Units at strategic points, with a focus on traffic control, securing tourist sites, and delivering quality services in awareness-raising, assistance, and emergency response.
Lieutenant-Colonel BEZZIOU also noted that the Gendarmerie will ensure the safety of 343 out of the 446 officially nationwide authorized beaches, which accounts for 77%. Both fixed and mobile units have been deployed to cover these areas, in addition to monitoring transport networks, safeguarding forests, thermal baths complex, campsites, and leisure spaces, all while upholding environmental protection.
In this context, emphasis was placed on the need to comply with regulations governing the use of boats, especially near swimming zones, and on combating the illegal use of public spaces. The plan also includes preventive measures against food poisoning, as well as regular analysis of seawater to ensure it meets health standards.
In conclusion, Lieutenant-Colonel BEZZIOU called on the media to play their role in raising public awareness, encouraging citizens to report violations, particularly dangerous road behavior such as reckless maneuvers that threaten the safety of road users.
