The National Gendarmerie Holds a National Forum on Security Challenges Related to Social Media

 
     In light of the rapid developments taking place in the digital space and the growing impact of social media use on public security, the National Gendarmerie Command organized, on May 27th, 2025, a national forum entitled: "Social Media and Its Impact on Public Security." The event was held in the conference hall of the Gendarmerie headquarters and was broadcast via videoconferencing to the six Regional Commands, the Higher School of the National Gendarmerie in Zeralda, and the Judicial Police School in Yesser, enabling broad participation from Gendarmerie officers at all levels.
 
  
    This event was marked by academic presentations delivered by several specialists, including experts from the Gendarmerie Command, representatives from the National Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Cybercrime, the Ministry of Justice, and the General Directorate of National Security. The presentations addressed how social media is used in the commission of crimes and its combat, its repercussions on national security, with focus on the current legal framework, and the preventive and deterrent roles of the relevant authorities in this field.
 
  
    The forum was attended by representatives of several high-level official bodies, including the Ministry of National Defense, the National for the Prevention and Combat of Cybercrime, the Security of Information Systems Agency, as well as the Ministries of Justice, Communication, Post and Telecommunications, and Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to the General Directorate of National Security. Officers and senior staff of the National Gendarmerie from various operational and administrative structures also participated, giving the discussions a practical and professional dimension that reflects the institution’s awareness of current digital challenges and ways to address them.
